PROFILE
Gary
is a lifelong entrepreneur with multiple exits to his name. He is blessed
with an instinct to identify and execute on business plans in start-up
industries, regardless of genre. His core belief is there are
opportunities as the first to market player which allow for venture
capital returns and creates disruption and value for the consumer.
After a successful career as a pit trader in the US futures exchanges he turned his attention to building companies. First with Q-mills, a flour milling company then with Pegasus Power, a national retail electricity brokerage and trading company.
Aksamit Resource Management began the summer of 2008, in the beginning of the Great Recession. With an $18,000
personal investment, an SUV, a briefcase and a laptop, Gary traveled
around the upper Midwest conducting landowner and community education
meetings anywhere there was an audience, no matter how small.
Gary’s greatest strength is his ability to connect with people on a personal level. Starting first with a 70MW project with a used meteorological tower, the company grew to over a dozen employees and tens of thousands of acres amassed by Mr. Aksamit. All projects Aksamit started were done with a business plan of community participation. Ultimately the combined portfolio of projects approached $1B in total construction value.
Wind is Water started in 2012 as a movement built around the simple fact that large thermal power plants often built in arid areas of the Midwest are the biggest consumers of water in the region, which has a negative downstream impact on agriculture and industry.
Over the years the passion for water policy has become front and center in Mr. Aksamit’s life but has now incorporated itself into a policy position of retail electricity competition where the consumer should have the right and opportunity to “choose” accessing all forms of electricity. The belief is the consumer can and will choose the renewable energy options because they are cheaper and environmentally sustainable.

Americans for Electricity Choice, a political Super PAC based on “K Street" in Washington D.C., was dedicated to leading the utility industry into a national conversation about retail electricity competition.
In late 2018 after 10 years of running Aksamit, Gary stepped down from company and sold his equity to spend more time being an advocate for the environment, clean air, water quality and empowering the electricity consumer to be able to choose forms of electricity which are sustainable in the 21st Century.

Currently Gary is focused on building Aksamit Entertainment and Digital Media, an Internet based digital content provider, and traveling globally as a key-note speaker, as well as providing classroom level mentoring to young people who have a burning desire to be entrepreneurs.
